A Small Homestead

Welcome to my blog about our adventures on and away from our modest family homestead. We are a young family trying to raise as much of our own food as possible and still enjoy life while holding down full time jobs and work two small home based businesses. Life can get hectic and challenging but at the end of the day we have most importantly each other, good food on our table and a roof over our heads.

To muster the courage to keep a goal.....

Last year when I kicked my "healthier me" plan into higher gear I set a goal to run a 5k in June.  With winter I have turned into a hibernating bear.  Packing on pounds so I survive the storms.  With this change I fear I am letting myself down,  I will not be able to run the 5k as I had hoped.  Last fall I was walking 6k easily, it took me an hour with a distracted beagle so I was hopeful, now I am concerned.  Should I just forget about it?  Should I give up?  Am I just afraid of failing?  Am I sabotaging myself since I have a treadmill I could be using to keep up what I had accomplished last fall? These are all the questions racing through my mind right now.  Especially since registration is posted.  At this point I have a decision to make, to get back on track or give up.
